Monuments:S. Salvador Church is the present Mother Church and was built in the XVII century. It keeps paintings, images and tiles of great valuable in its interior. S. Francisco Convent is a building of the XVII century and lodges the Arte Sacra Museum, which presents wonderful panels and tiles. Nossa Senhora das Angústias Church was built in the XVII century and keeps a presep attributed to Machado de Castro. Império dos Nobres is a small chapel built in the XVIII century, the first built specifically for the festivities in honour to Divino Espírito Santo. Santa Cruz Fortress, built in the XVI century, protected the city of Horta from hostile fleets’ attacks. Torre do Relógio, is what remains from the former Mother Church built in the XVIII century and demolished in the XIX century. Porto Pim Fortified Gate and S. Sebastiăo Fortress Walls were part of the defence system of Porto Pim bay.
