Culture and entertainment: Several religious and secular festivities animate the island, outstanding the festivities in honour of Senhor Santo dos Milagres, which take place in the fifth Sunday after Eastern. All the municipalities and village places have their cultural week. During summer time, all the parishes celebrate their patron saint; these festivities include concerts performed by local philharmonics, local bands and folklore groups, but also nationally known artists.
For night entertainment, the visitor can choose between bares, discos, pubs and cinemas existing in Ponta Delgada and other places in the island.
We suggest a visit to the Public Library and Regional Archive of Ponta Delgada, and to the different museums and ethnographic houses present in all the municipalities of Săo Miguel Island.
